Kristen Gotsis

Middle School Language Arts Teacher

Some Heritage teachers have been blessed with the opportunity to be both a student and a faculty member. Kristen Gotsis, who first came to Heritage when she began 6th grade, has recently moved back from Lansing, Michigan with her husband to embrace this special community of believers by coming back as our new 7th grade Language Arts teacher.

After graduating from Heritage, she knew she wanted to go into teaching because of the powerful impact her teachers had on her and her faith. She decided to attend Purdue University to major in Elementary Education with a Reading Endorsement. After college, she worked as a kindergarten assistant at The Oaks Academy here in Indianapolis before coming to work at Heritage as a 7th grade literature teacher for 2012-2013 school year. She and her husband then decided to move to Michigan and stayed for the past 3 years before returning home.

It's refreshing to work at a place where freedom in who we are in Christ trumps our human imperfections.

One of the reasons why she loves teaching at Heritage is being able to help the students, knowing what is like to be a student and the difficulties that come with it, as they get their education and grow stronger in the faith. She loves being part of the students' lives and she says she can't wait to see how God uses her in the classroom at Heritage. "It's {Heritage} a place where grace is given and the Lord is active," she says, " It's refreshing to work at a place where freedom in who we are in Christ trumps our human imperfections."
