Fine Arts Handbook

Departmental Philosophy

  1.  Each student is a unique and special creation of God. (Ps. 149:14; Gen. 1:31)
  2. Each student is created by God with unique and special talents. (1 Cor. 12:7)
  3. Recognizing the supremacy of Christ, these talents are to be used in a manner that honors and glorifies the
    Lord. (1 Cor. 10:31)
  4. These talents are developmental in nature and require appropriate training by qualified teachers. (Luke 2:46)
  5. God has intended the arts to provide aesthetic and emotional benefits to mankind. (1 Sam. 16:23)
  6. God has intended the arts to communicate about culture, society, history, and scriptural truth. (Eph. 5:19; Ex.15)
  7. The arts are a primary form of praise and worship through the work of the Holy Spirit. (Ps. 149:1-5; Ps. 150)
  8.  In addition, the arts have numerous developmental benefits for the student. Therefore, HCS views fine arts as an important part of the complete curriculum.
