The annual spiritual theme is a springboard for classroom conversation, our athletics teams, and clubs. From our preschool students to high school seniors, the theme unites our students around a common idea that’s grounded in spiritual truth.
2017-18 Spiritual Theme
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.
- Philippians 1:27 -
Each year, a group of senior students assist the Discipleship Department and serve the student body by offering ideas, giving feedback, and participating in chapel planning. It was not long after the group first assembled to prepare for the 2017-2018 school year, that they expressed a desire for our student body to know and have confidence in what they believe and to be able to express their beliefs in an winsome way.
The culture around us is increasingly in opposition to the guidelines given to us by God in the Bible. Sometimes it is hard for students (and, if we are honest, all of us) to not be swayed away by what feels to be compelling ideas presented by the world around us.
So, this year, our spiritual theme is “Stand Firm”. Throughout the Bible there are many verses that encourage us to stand firm. We have chosen Philippians 1:27 as our theme verse which reminds us to conduct ourselves in a way that is worthy of the Gospel of Christ, to stand firm in the Spirit, and to strive together as one. From elementary to high school, we are excited to spend the school year thinking deeply about what it looks like for us to stand firm together.
