Prep-K Teacher

Meet Abbey Catton, a Prep-K teacher and a proud member of the Heritage family! Abbey attended Heritage from 8th grade through her graduation and went on to study elementary education at IUPUI. Teaching at Heritage is the fulfillment of one of Abbey’s long-time dreams!

One day, when talking with a friend about her great high school memories, Abbey started thinking about her time here. “A few days later, I felt like God was pulling me to apply. When I looked at their open positions, they had a prep-k position open.” she said. The rest is history!

In her classroom, Abbey wants students to know that Heritage isn’t just a school, it’s a family. She also recognizes the importance of understanding each individual student and their background and experience. Most of all, she wants to spiritually encourage her students. She explained, “I will pray for them and with them. I will speak kindly and calmly to them. I want them to see that I have Jesus in my heart.”

Outside the classroom, Abbey’s hobbies include baking cookies, watching the Cubs, and taking her dog, Dale, to the park. If it’s summer, she’s most likely outside fishing. We’re excited to see Abbey pass on her Heritage experience to another generation of students!
