Annie Wilson
First Grade Teacher
Annie Wilson is a valued member of our first-grade team here at Heritage. Annie’s love for learning has always been a part of her, and it’s what inspired her to become a teacher. She fondly recalls being a little girl who felt sad on the last day of school, simply because she knew she would miss the joy of learning. This passion for teaching led her to Taylor University where she earned her degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts.
Annie grew up hearing about our school from a young age. With a mom who was a Heritage teacher for 10 years, she shared stories about students and experiences that impacted her during her time here. Imagine the surprise when Annie learned that one of her mom’s former 4th grade students now has a child who is in Annie’s 1st grade class this year! “It’s so cool to see how God so intricately orchestrates these moments.”
In her classroom, Annie cultivates an environment where students encourage each other, pray for one another, and lift each other up. “I want my students to see the Lord’s hand in all that they do and know that they are known and loved by Him. Learning about Jesus is the most important aspect of school.” She is energized by being able to integrate faith and learning into her classroom.
Annie is inspired most in life by her mom who continually points her to Jesus and focuses her back on God’s word. “She just loves people so well and I aspire to be like her!”
In her free time, Annie enjoys drinking coffee, running, playing games, and exploring new places. One of her most cherished destinations is Uganda, a place she discovered during her time at Taylor University, and which has since become one of her favorites in the world.
