Carol Lamke
2nd Grade Aide
Carol Lamke didn’t always plan on being a teacher. Her education is in Speech Pathology with a minor in Instrumental and Vocal Music. Although that degree doesn’t certify her to teach, she soon found her love of children once she found the joy in being her own children’s first teacher. She now serves the Heritage community as a second grade aid.
She says one of her favorite memories of her time as an aide happened on her birthday—which also happens to be Groundhog Day. One student approached her and asked, “Mrs. Lamke, are there any groundhogs as old as you are?” That same winter, her students and their families generously gave her enough for a new winter coat!
This is a perfect example of what Carol says is her most cherished part of working at HCS. All of the faculty, staff, parents, and students feel like another family to her. “When I go to school,” she says, “I feel like I am coming to another place called home.”
