Prep-K Teacher

Today we are highlighting a new prep-k teacher, Debra Scheffler!

We are so excited to have Debra back on campus! Debra graduated from Heritage in 2004, and then went on to receive a Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. After graduating, she spent many years gaining experience with children in a variety of settings.

Debra is very passionate about our youngest students. She loves the joy and excitement they have for life. She also understands the importance of being a good leader and teaching with a biblical worldview. “My students are following me as I follow Jesus. It is important to teach even the littlest of minds that there is a creator and sustainer who made them, loves them, and hears them when they talk to Him,” Debra said. “As I teach students simple lessons like being a good friend, sharing with others, and obeying authority, I am teaching them those lessons through the lens of God's Word. I will teach them that we obey, we are good friends, and we love others because that is what Jesus did and how Jesus lived.”

Outside of the classroom, Debra enjoys spending time with family by watching her sons play sports, going on road trips, and having pizza movie nights. She has also traveled to Europe and spent time in the Czech Republic, Italy, France, and even camped in the Swiss Alps!
