Middle School & High School Discipleship Mentor
Dina Furnish, Middle School & High School Discipleship Mentor, has known she wanted to be a counselor since 7th grade. Through her journey with Christ, Dina discovered that God’s larger calling was for her to use her gifts to love His children and point them toward Jesus. Dina joined the Heritage staff 11 years ago, as she and Miles, her husband of 25 years, sent their sons, Pierson, MJ, and Evan to Heritage.
Dina studied Elementary Education and Psychology at Valparaiso University, then received a master’s degree in Counseling and Counselor Education at Indiana University. She used her degrees to work as a counselor with youth and families before stepping down to raise her three boys. She considers her decision to stay home with her boys as one of her best and a season that she will always treasure.
Dina joined the HCS staff in 2008 and has been a part of the discipleship team for the past nine years. She takes much joy in her work, as she loves mentoring students, providing a safe place for them to work through tough issues, and speaking God’s word into their lives.
“We have so many students that have been transformed before our eyes as a result of the love and discipleship they've received through their experience at Heritage,” she said. “It’s an honor to be used by God in such a powerful way.”
