Elissa King
2nd Grade Teacher
Elissa King is one of our second grade teachers here at Heritage!
Elissa earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a focus on middle school science, but you could say her preparation began long before that. Elissa attended a Christian school from preschool all the way until high school, and that history taught her the value of Christian education.
In college, Elissa realized how influential teachers had been in her life. She said, “I felt as though I grew up in the classroom as my mom was an elementary teacher, and I understood the immense commitment and number of hours it took to meet the needs of every student.”
In her second grade classroom, Elissa centers her lessons around the Gospel. Every class includes time in Scripture. Elissa says she teaches her students biblical concepts like the fruit of the Spirit by “engaging in discussions about Jesus and pointing them to Christ through each and every subject.”
Outside of the classroom, Elissa enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family. Speaking of her family, Elissa’s not the only Eagle—her two children have also attended Heritage since kindergarten. We’re so glad to have them as part of our community!
