Jim Benedict - Middle School Teacher

Jim Benedict

Middle School Teacher

Jim Benedict has been a staple in the Heritage middle school for almost 30 years. He is also the reason Heritage has a cross country program, which he started in 1986. He just recently retired from coaching.

When Jim was young, he envisioned himself pursuing a career in architecture. But after working as a 5th grade classroom assistant his senior year of high school, he decided instead to pursue teaching. Jim had also grown up watching his father enjoy teaching elementary school.

Jim studied Elementary Education and Math Secondary Education at Cedarville University. He met some HCS administrators at a job fair and has been involved in the Heritage community ever since.
Jim also saw his four children graduate from Heritage in ‘06, ‘08, ‘12, and ‘16, and had the pleasure of coaching all four of them in cross country.

Jim’s favorite parts about teaching are "seeing the light of understanding appear on students' faces, hearing their outside-the-box questions, and pointing them toward God's part in the various subjects."

Though he didn’t become an architect, Jim does own an interior/exterior house painting businesses, which he has run for 30 years.
