Karen Snyder - Substitute Teacher

Karen Snyder

Substitute Teacher

Meet Karen Snyder, one of our excellent subsitute teachers. Karen is also a Heritage parent, as three of her six children have attended Heritage for high school. Karen comes to us after having spent many years raising and homeschooling her kids. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a teacher, but she initially entered the corporate world after college.

Karen studied Communication and Business at Miami of Ohio and Taylor University, then worked in business, including in marketing research and HR. Once she and her husband, Jim, started a family, she stepped away to raise her children. Throughout those years, Karen taught a variety of homeschool co-op classes and fell in love with teaching in the classroom.

“One of my biggest joys is simply being a consistent, encouraging presence in their lives,” she said. “Some of the basic parts of life have been turned upside down right now. So having the opportunity to be a reassuring presence, a voice that reminds them of His constancy, and a person who cares about each of them as an individual–that is my goal and source of joy.”

At home, Karen enjoys volunteering with Safe Families, cooking for her family, hosting people, and working out.
