Kelly Skinner - Science Teacher

Kelly Skinner

7th Grade Life Science, Honors Chemistry, & Honors Physiology Teacher

Kelly Skinner is an HCS alum from the class of 1997 and has returned to Heritage to teach Honors Chemistry, Honors Physiology, and 7th grade Life Science.

Kelly spent most of her career as a missionary in Panama, doing everything from teaching English and science to homeschooling missionary children to doing construction.

Kelly returns to Heritage as a teacher and a parent, with two of her three children as students in 3rd and 6th grades. She’s excited to work alongside teachers she had when she attended HCS.

“They are a testimony to the kind of place Heritage is, and so many of them were my personal inspiration for teaching,” said Kelly.

Kelly attended Wheaton College with hopes of becoming a veterinarian, but things changed midway through college. “I felt convicted that God had something else in store for me,” she said. “It became clear that education was the direction God was pointing me in.”

Kelly graduated with degrees in Biology and Secondary Education. Kelly and her husband moved to Panama, where they lived for 13 years in total. She misses speaking Spanish daily!

Kelly is excited to see what’s in store with her students this year at Heritage.

“I’m greatly honored to be walking through at least a little bit of real-life with them, understanding who they are individually, and learning more about our incredible Creator and His personal love and grace for each of us,” she said.
