2nd Grade Teacher

Welcome Kristin Smiley to the Heritage faculty! Kristin teaches 2nd grade.

Does the last name Smiley sound familiar? That’s because her husband’s aunt is ESS teacher Rachel Smiley!

Kristin graduated from Eastern Illinois University and is currently working on her Masters in Literary Instruction from Ball State University. Working with children has been a desire of hers ever since she was a child herself – she used to play school in her basement every day after school.

Before staying at home to raise her four daughters, she taught for four years.

Kristin is most passionate about helping kids find joy in reading and becoming great writers.

“Kids are funny, smart, and amazing,” she said. “I love being a part of their lives and learning alongside them.”

In her spare time, Kristin enjoys gardening, reading, playing board and card games, and spending time with her family and friends.
