Reyna Eckel
Sixth Grade Science & Social Studies Teacher
Meet sixth grade science and social studies teacher, and Heritage alum, Reyna Eckel (’17). She began teaching at Heritage in August 2022. Reyna and her family have a strong connection with Heritage. Her dad is a Heritage alum, her mom has taught at Heritage for more than 20 years, her brother graduated in 2016, and her sister is currently in seventh grade. Reyna married a Heritage class of 2017 alum, her brother-in-law is a 2020 alum, and her sister-in-law will graduate from HCS this year.
After graduating from Heritage, Reyna attended Taylor University where she majored in Health Promotion and Wellness. She is currently enrolled in (and close to completing) Taylor’s Transition to Teaching program. “During my senior year of college, I had the opportunity to substitute teach at Heritage and loved my experience,” she said. “I was able to help coach soccer in my first year out of college, which solidified my passion to work with children. So, I chose to go back to school to get my teaching license so I could work with students,” Reyna explained.
In her classroom, Reyna strives to model what it means to live a Christ-centered life. She works each day to show students how to be more Christ-like through our words and actions. She is inspired by HCS employee Sherman Williams because “he is the true example of what it means to humbly serve others and put Christ first in all things,” she said.
When she is not at work, Reyna loves spending time with her husband, as well as playing or watching soccer, playing yard games, reading books, going out to dinner, and spending time with her friends.
