Sam Straub
Dual Credit Marketing Teacher
Sam Straub is our dual credit marketing teacher here at HCS. Sam has a personal connection to Heritage as his oldest son, Lincoln, attended HCS through 8th grade and his son, Foster, is an HCS alum. Sam earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State University and MBA from Indiana University.
Prior to Heritage, Sam enjoyed an extensive marketing and sales career in consumer goods at companies such as Dow Chemical and Delta Faucet. “Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by wanting to get closer to consumers,” said Sam. At Dow, Sam developed new fast-moving consumer products as part of the Dow Brands division, which included products such as Ziploc bags and Fantastik hard surface cleaner, and also worked in brand marketing. At Delta, Sam held leadership roles in sales and marketing before retiring from the company in January 2020.
Sam kicks off his classes each term by reviewing with students Romans 12:2: "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." He explains to his students that in his classroom, he hopes to open their minds to a Christ-centered marketing perspective of the world.
Outside of the classroom, Sam enjoys fitness (biking), roasting his own coffee, and pursuing growth and connection.
