High School English and Theater Teacher
For English and theater teacher Spencer Elliott, the student is the center of the classroom. After spending time as a teacher with Teach For America and 6 years at other schools, he knew he wanted more.
Through what he calls a “series of nudges” God brought him to Heritage. He now loves that loves that he gets to talk about God with those who come into his classroom: “I get to pray with my students before every class period!”
What keeps Elliott going is seeing students change their mindsets about their abilities and potential. “The brain is malleable,” he says, “but students think their intelligence is fixed. My prayer is that they leave my class realizing that, with hard work, they can improve at anything they put their mind to.”
