High School Director of Guidance
This teacher is a familiar face to anyone who has been through High School at Heritage. Erik Smith, our high school director of guidance, has dedicated a life of service to the HCS community - first as a math teacher then in his current role in the guidance office.
Erik has a degree in secondary education mathematics from Taylor University and a masters in school counseling from Butler University. Since working at Heritage he has not only taught, but also coached basketball and soccer, lead missions trips, sponsored the student council, and began the tradition of staff participation in the homecoming lip-sync competitions.
He says his experience teaching and talking with his students about their struggles and their dreams lead him to pursue counseling. He says, “I love helping students discover their gifts and passions and where they can best use those to find fulfillment and serve the kingdom of God.”
Erik is pictured here with his wife Christi, and children Kaelyn and Malachi, who are both Heritage students.
