Making the Switch to HCS

WE ARE ...

Tips to Help Your Student + Family Transition to HCS

  • If you need help, ask. Whether you need to locate the nearest restroom or are curious about an afterschool club, our admission team, faculty/staff, and parent community stand ready and eager to lend a hand!
  • Each year, we hold a Back to School Celebration to inaugurate the new school year. It's the perfect way to meet other HCS families and see our campus in action.
  • HCS Head of School, Dr. Brian Dougherty, hosts several Newly Enrolled Parent Meetings each spring and summer. These gatherings give families the chance to hear firsthand about Heritage's culture and expectations, laying the foundation for a strong partnership between home and school from the very start.
  • Join us in the days preceding the start of classes for an enriching experience we call “Success Camp” tailored for new students in grades 5-12. Dive into essential topics designed to set the stage for a successful school year and get all your questions answered.
  • Parents with students in grades 5-12 are invited to our comprehensive New Parent Orientation Sessions. These events not only provide vital information but also foster meaningful connections within our school community.
  • Every new family at HCS receives a comprehensive Getting Started Calendar, meticulously curated to facilitate a seamless transition into our community. This resource outlines key events, including “Play Dates on the Playground” for elementary students, “Meet the Teacher” days for all grade levels, and “Locker Days” for students in grades 5-12.
  • Our parent community offers unwavering support for one another and our faculty/staff through prayer and events led by our active Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF). PTF is a great way for any parent to become more connected with the Heritage community.
  • We make it a habit to emphasize the importance and power of prayer here at HCS. Ask the Lord to guide you as your family transitions to a new school.
