Anna Hegdahl (‘05) is an English and history teacher in New Delhi, India, at Metro Delhi International School. After completing a B.A. in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching at Wheaton College, Anna returned to New Delhi, where she spent most of her childhood.
Anna only attended Heritage for her senior year after her family returned to the U.S., but she grew a lot in that year.
“I really noticed and appreciated how my teachers worked hard for us and cared about us, as well as the value of what I learned,” she said.
That year, Anna reflected on her life as a TCK (third culture kid) and decided she wanted to become a teacher to minister to teens, and TCK's, in particular.
Anna enjoys creating curriculum and helping her students connect themes in literature with current issues.
“It is rewarding to see students enjoy a book or poem or continue debating an issue, but I most value opportunities to have discipleship conversations with them about truth, faith, spiritual growth, and ways of living life.”
Recently, while in the U.S., Anna visited HCS orchestra director Laura Payne.
“The idea that teachers have a multiplying effect came up in our conversation,” said Anna. “I hope I can keep making a difference for students and their families and see them make a difference for God's Kingdom.”
