While attending Heritage, Garrett and Megan (Harrison) Lisby got more than just a great education. Heritage is where they met, participated in cross country and track, and caught the bug for a career in health care. They are now married and both are Physical Therapists.

Garrett (’15) credits his shadowing experience at a physical therapy clinic while attending Heritage with sparking his passion for pursuing a career in the field. Megan (’16) credits her interest in the health care field to taking Anatomy and Physiology and AP Biology.

After graduating from HCS, Garrett and Megan both attended Taylor University where they majored in Exercise Science. “I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in health care, but was unsure of the direction to take,” said Megan. “I was inspired by the impact that Physical Therapists can have in treating and helping patients achieve their goals while utilizing a conservative approach to treatment,” she explained.

Garrett and Megan recently graduated from Physical Therapy school at Florida Southern College and are beginning their careers as Physical Therapists in Indianapolis.

Megan says she loves how many different settings and environments you can work in as a Physical Therapist. “I enjoy the amount of time I am able to spend interacting with and building relationships with the patients that I treat.”

Garrett, who currently works at Benchmark Physical Therapy, an outpatient clinic, says that he enjoys the opportunity to treat a variety of patients and injuries. “There is always room to grow and learn more as a Physical Therapist.”

Megan, who will be starting soon at a skilled nursing facility, says she enjoys “the amount of time I am able to spend interacting with and building relationships with the patients that I treat.”

Both Megan and Garrett think back fondly on their time at Heritage. Some of Megan’s favorite memories were running cross country and track and the friendships gained from participating in these activities. Garrett also enjoyed running cross country and track. He says that his time on both teams led to life-long friendships and introduced him to his wife! “Another great memory was setting the 800-meter record for Track, which was a great way to hang up the spikes.”
