Janette (Keller) Marson ‘81 was recently promoted to VP of the Kentucky Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus. She will become President in 2022. Lake Cumberland is a popular boating and fishing destination near the Daniel Boone National Forest.

Janette works hard to keep up with travel trends and tourism education, but that has been a great challenge this past year. Regardless, she is excited to connect with other tourism directors across Kentucky in this new role. She hopes to be an inspiration to these directors and to her community in the midst of the pandemic.

“I absolutely love what I’m doing,” she said. “I know I’m making a difference in my community by marketing it as a travel destination and bringing outside dollars into the community.”

Janette says her Heritage education inspired her to pursue Communications, which led her to where she is today. She still keeps in touch with dear Heritage classmates and thinks of her teachers often.

“I think Heritage has impacted everything I’ve done,” she said. “I am forever grateful that my parents were able to send me to Heritage.”

Outside of work, Janette enjoys traveling with her husband, exploring new places, and visiting her three sons who live in Lexington and Louisville.
