Kathryn Carpenter ('98)

Kathryn (George) Carpenter

Class of 1998

November 13, 2017

Kathryn (George) Carpenter '98 felt a calling and desire for music that began at nine years old when she and her family’s band started performing concerts together in small and medium sized churches in the area.

Today, Kathryn is teaching music arranging, composing, recording, performing, and singing. She says that one of the greatest joys of music is continuing to grow, learn, and study.

“The music that I enjoy recording and arranging is not in the realm of contemporary; it is more in the category of nostalgic music. Ultimately, I hope to leave behind a legacy of faithfulness to the Lord and my family; invest in others and create beautiful music.”

After graduating from Heritage, Kathryn attended Anderson University and Ball State University where she earned her bachelors and master’s degree, respectively. In 2005, her family put together a music studio where they have been able to record music CDs and projects. She recently finished, “Ever in Joyful Song,” featuring personal hymn arrangements, including two of her dad’s original songs, soon to be available on iTunes in a couple of weeks.

Kathryn says she was thankful for so many of her teachers at Heritage and the impact they had on her life.

“The Lord knows the trials and tribulations that we will face over a lifetime. During our formative years, we learn from teachers not only by what they teach, but through their example.”

She continues, “I remember Mr. Terry giving short devotionals before class began; I am so thankful for those incredible special memories. Overall, the academic preparation for college, graduate school, and life has been extremely helpful. Graduate school seemed easier than my junior year at Heritage! I am so thankful for the character building experiences, the discipline learned, and the wonderful Christian example from so many fantastic teachers.”
