Kevin Mathes (‘94) was recently appointed Superintendent at North Raleigh Christian Academy.

Kevin Mathes

Kevin graduated with a B.S. in Business Management and Marketing from Pensacola Christian College, then married his wife, Joy, and moved to Raleigh, where he became a mortgage underwriter and Joy began teaching at North Raleigh Christian Academy (NRCA). The two got very involved in NRCA, attending sports games and chaperoning field trips.

Soon after, Kevin felt the call to ministry and education, so he switched careers and became the Director of College Admissions at NRCA. He has since earned a Masters in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Now starting his 18th year at NRCA, Kevin has taught classes, coached basketball and soccer, and served in various roles including Alumni Director, Middle School Principal, and Assistant Secondary Principal.

Kevin is very grateful for his Heritage education because of its view on kingdom education and its similarities to NRCA.

“Attending and graduating from Heritage gives me a unique perspective of being a product of Christian education,” said Kevin. “It allows me to relate to the students and families that I serve.”

Kevin and Joy have two daughters and they love going to the beach or mountains, as Raleigh is conveniently located near both!
