Sarah (Wilkins) Arosen (‘10) is learning to follow God’s lead through her career as a nurse and her heart for missions.

After graduating from Indiana Wesleyan, Sarah worked at St. Vincent in cardiac nursing. Sarah and her husband Kyle soon felt the call to move to Honduras to work for a medical non-profit, where Sarah helped start and manage a community clinic. It was while in Honduras that Sarah developed a love for impoverished and underserved communities, which led her to pursue becoming a family nurse practitioner (FNP).

Though the Arosens planned to stay in Honduras, God brought them back to Indy last December. Sarah is back in the cardiac ICU at St. Vincent, and she’ll complete her FNP in July 2020. While they don’t know where the Lord will lead them next, Sarah is enjoying caring for critically ill patients.

“The work doesn’t come without its emotional toll, but my strength and endurance don't come from me, but from Him,” she said.

Sarah says her experience at Heritage set the foundation for her walk with Christ.

“It was a privilege to be taught in an environment that honored Christ and where my teachers and coaches cared about my spiritual health and my relationship with the Lord,” she said.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys anything fitness-related, including playing in a competitive women’s soccer league. She also enjoys spending time playing games and exploring Indy with her husband.
