Julia Street (‘78)

Julia Street

Class of 1978

Posted on March 10, 2025

Life’s journey doesn’t always follow a straight path, and Julia Street is a perfect example of how God weaves together every experience for a greater purpose.

After graduating from Heritage in 1978, Julia explored several colleges before earning her associate’s degree in computer programming. She built a career in her family’s insurance business before stepping into new roles in journalism and healthcare. She even returned to college decades later, earning a degree in Healthcare Administration in 2012.

But the most meaningful chapter of her career began in 2023 when she answered a call—quite literally. A financial advisor from her church was looking for someone to join his business, and Julia felt God nudging her to apply. Now, she sees her work as a ministry, helping clients be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to them. "I love what I do because I'm able to make God the center of my work and love my clients like Jesus."

Julia’s passion for serving others extends far beyond the workplace. After caring for her father following a stroke, she was inspired to bring comfort to others through pet therapy. Her first therapy dog, Bailey, formed deep connections with nursing home residents, bringing smiles to countless faces. After Bailey’s passing, Julia continued the work with her current therapy dog, Rikki, who now visits nursing homes, hospitals, and schools—and even serves as the greeter at her office. She also teaches a monthly watercolor painting class to adults with developmental disabilities, giving them a creative outlet that fills their hearts with joy.

Julia says that Heritage helped shape her faith and surround her with friendships that would become a source of strength during life’s hardest moments. When she lost her husband in a tragic accident in 2021, it was her church and the lifelong friends she made at Heritage who walked beside her. "I don’t know how I would have made it without my Heritage friends. I know my parents are in heaven saying, ‘Well, that was money well spent.’”

To today’s Heritage students, Julia offers this wisdom: "You have been given a great gift. You may not realize its full impact for a long time, but you are building a foundation that will weather any storm."

Julia, thank you for the way you love and serve others! Your story is a beautiful example of God’s faithfulness and how a Heritage education continues to bear fruit for a lifetime.
