Kelly Faris • Class of 2009

Story from the Spring 2026 Heritage Messenger

Note: This story has been updated to reflect Kelly Faris being named an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky in April 2026.

Kelly Faris, a 2009 Heritage graduate, left an indelible mark on HCS athletics. As a student-athlete, she helped lead the Lady Eagles to four consecutive IHSAA state championships, earning a national ranking and an outstanding 104-8 team record.

“My decision to attend Heritage Christian was a decision I would make time and time again. I had an incredible four years and would not trade it for anything. As an athlete, I look back and realize how blessed I was to be a part of the teams I was on.”

Kelly remains Heritage’s all-time leader in rebounds, assists, and steals and also excelled in volleyball and track, earning all-state and national honors.

“I made so many memories and lifelong friendships that I never thought I’d have. Not only that, but I really grew in my faith. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to attend Heritage and I can only hope many others will be impacted in the same ways as I was.”

After high school, Kelly continued her success at the University of Connecticut, where she reached four Final Fours, won two National Championships, and was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year. She went on to play professionally for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA.

After her playing career, Kelly continued to invest in the game through coaching, serving as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball teams at Marian University and Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis before joining the coaching staff for the Noblesville Boom, an NBA G League team affiliated with the Indiana Pacers.

In April 2026, Kelly was named an assistant coach for the Chicago Sky, continuing her coaching career at the WNBA level. Her journey from Heritage to UConn, professional basketball, and now the sidelines of the WNBA is a testament to her dedication, faith, and love for the game.

November 14, 2025 Update

We are excited to celebrate Kelly Faris who has joined the 2025–26 coaching staff of the Noblesville Boom!

Kelly was a standout Eagle who helped lead HCS to four IHSAA state championships. She went on to win two NCAA Women’s Basketball Championships at UCONN and later played in the WNBA.

Kelly shared, “The game of basketball has provided me with so many amazing opportunities over the years. I’m extremely grateful to have another chance to be around the game with the Noblesville Boom.”

August 15, 2025 Update

Heritage Christian alum Kelly Faris returned to Indiana this summer for WNBA All-Star Weekend, not as a player, but as a coach for the Basketball Without Borders camp at the University of Indianapolis.

The camp brought together top high school prospects from around the world, giving them the opportunity to learn from current and former WNBA players. For Kelly, it was a chance to give back to the game that’s taken her from Heritage to the University of Connecticut, the WNBA, and professional teams overseas.

“It’s very important,” Faris told ClutchPoints. “I think any chance where we have an opportunity to give back and help, it’s extremely important.”
