Heritage to Continue Distance Learning Through End of Semester

Distance Learning to Continue Through End of Semester

In conjunction with Governor Holcomb's April 2 media briefing directing all schools to remain closed through end of semester, Heritage Christian is announcing that it will comply and keep its campus closed, continuing distance learning through the end of semester.

The impact of this includes cancellation of our May 22 on-campus graduation ceremony (details on alternative activities to follow in the days ahead), official cancellation of all spring sports and all other extracurricular activities, and cancellation of all school-related gatherings and trips during this time frame. We are prepared to finish the school year strong on distance learning and remote delivery of all year-end academic reporting. In addition, we are busy considering the impact of and alternative options for celebrating and recognizing our various school traditions and annual events. As we navigate these unique times, this news was not a surprise. Thank you for your ongoing patience and perseverance through this extraordinary season.

We all now realize that for the remainder of this school year God has called us to a new version of how we live out our mission at Heritage. Technology is helping us learn in new ways, and social media is helping us stay connected. Consider the rapid and effective transition our teachers have made from traditional classroom learning to distance learning. You can imagine the challenges our teachers have – similar to our students – to manage Internet bandwidth issues, the needs for their families and children, labs and projects, fine art and athletic activities, and personal discipleship engagement. It can feel overwhelming.

For the rest of the semester, you are invited to join us on our Facebook page, on your Parent Portal, or on our coronavirus-related website pages. We need to stay connected in different ways now.

Thank you to all who have sent messages telling us you are praying for us. We are also praying for you that God would use this time for His purpose in each of your lives.
