Discipleship in Intermediate & Middle School
Grades 5-8
As students become more independent, our goal is to teach, mentor, and train them to think biblically, lead with humility, and understand their part in God’s story. Discipleship at this stage helps them connect truth to daily life.

A Culture of Discipleship
Discipleship begins with deep relationships. Our intermediate and middle school teachers truly know their students, encouraging them, building them up, and holding them accountable.
Prayer is an important part of discipleship. Students share praises and hardships, and classmates pray for one another daily. Teachers do this as well.
Our teachers, staff, and coaches at HCS are obedient to God's word, which instructs to "go and make disciples," by supporting students during both joyful and challenging times. Continuing to build personal relationships with students and modeling what being a disciple looks like each day are key ways we strive to build discipleship at HCS.

Chapel
Chapel is a regular opportunity for students to experience worship, pray, learn from the Bible, and hear stories of lives changed by Jesus.
Worship is typically led by our middle school chapel band, with occasional performances by special musical guests.
During chapel, students hear about God from teachers, local pastors, and alumni.
Additionally, Spiritual Emphasis Week occurs once each semester for our 7th and 8th grade students, allowing them to focus on a specific topic or the annual spiritual theme through daily chapels and small group sessions.

Bible Classes
All students take Bible class to study God’s Word and begin to learn basic doctrines of the Christian faith. As part of the Bible curriculum, students also learn how to memorize and recite Scripture every year.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16–17
This year I have been challenged to think beyond school things like writing. I have been challenged to read my Bible and apply it to my life and get to know Christ more.
