Heritage Mock Trial Teams Perform Well in State Finals

Heritage Mock Trial Teams Perform Well in State Finals

Posted on March 10, 2021

The two Heritage Christian teams that participated in the Mock Trial state finals over the weekend both represented Heritage in an exemplary manner!  Their performances clearly demonstrated their 100+ hours of preparation and dedication to learning about our legal system as well as the facts of this particular case.

Our sophomore team, UnMatched, placed 8th overall winning two out of three trials, with six of nine judges ballots and 821 total points. In the middle round on one judge's ballot, they scored an impressive 101 points out of a perfect 110!

The mostly senior team, Kickstart, finished Saturday in 1st place with 842 total points, winning all three trials and securing eight out of nine judges' ballots. Kickstart actually received a historic and rare PERFECT score of 110 from one judge! Kickstart advanced to the semi-final round on Sunday morning for the "top four" teams where they performed excellently but sadly did not advance to the championship.

Heritage students won a number of individual awards:

  • Luke Tiernon was named Most Effective Attorney in one round.
  • Sylvie Earlewine was named Most Effective Witness in a round.
  • The Favors sister both won Top 10 Most Effective Attorney awards!
    • Maya Favors was named Most Effective Attorney in three trials.
    • Mychael Favors won for her role as a Prosecution Attorney.
  • Samarrah Sanders won a Top 10 Most Effective Witness award for being chosen in 2 rounds.

Congratulations on a great Mock Trial season, Eagles!
