Spiritual Theme

The annual spiritual theme is a springboard for classroom conversation, our athletics teams, and clubs. From our preschool students to high school seniors, the theme unites our students around a common idea that’s grounded in spiritual truth.

Pursue

2023-24 Spiritual Theme: Pursue

But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

- 1 Timothy 6:11-12 -

Each year, the discipleship staff, students, and the leadership team work together to select the theme for the upcoming school year. For the 2022-23 school year, the spiritual theme is Pursue.

Flee. Pursue. Fight. Take Hold. During the year we will explore and adopt Paul’s strategy for engaging in the spiritual struggle we face each day. Nothing delights Satan more than when we stray from pursuing a relationship with Christ. Paul’s letter gives us 4 strategies to use in order to persevere: Flee. Pursue. Fight. Take Hold.

When we follow Christ, we recognize that we are not in a 50-yard dash, sprinting to the finish line. We are in a life-long pursuit of loving God and loving others. Every day we have the opportunity to flee from sin that entangles us and pursue the things which draw us into a relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior (Hebrews 12:1-3).

We engage individually and as a community in this pursuit so that we reflect God’s plan for redemption for all people. As we begin a new school year at Heritage Christian School, it is our prayer that our Heritage community pursue Christ and reflect Him to the world.
