Safety & Security

Lorem Ipsum Dolor

It is the desire of the Safety and Security Department at Heritage to stand ready to defend and protect the HCS family and serve all who depend on us to be prepared in any situation. Heritage continues to enhance the safety and security of our school, and our department consistently evaluates policies and procedures to protect and more faithfully serve the Heritage community.

Our Security Team

Creating a safe and secure environment is an essential part of effective education. At Heritage, we are blessed with an exceptionally experienced, honorable, and devoted Safety and Security Department.

Our department includes decades of combined training and experience in military, law enforcement, and professional security environments. We make it a priority to hire veterans and former officers who bring discipline, skill, and a deep sense of responsibility into their work. Each member of the team loves God and sees this role as a calling, not simply a job.

Throughout the day, our officers connect with students, parents, and staff to build trust and open communication. Their approach is both relational and highly trained, creating a presence on campus that is visible, reassuring, and prepared.

Our team actively looks for new ways to strengthen campus safety and create an environment where students, staff, and families feel secure. They care deeply about this community and work tirelessly each day to protect it. As part of that commitment, they continually review policies, procedures, and personnel to ensure we are serving our campus well.

How We Maintain a Safe School Environment

Armed Security & Trained On-Campus Officers

In 2018, we enhanced security by introducing an armed officer on campus. This program continues today with our School Resource Officer present during the school day.

Additionally, with board approval, we expanded our armed presence through an Armed Security Policy, allowing our security officers to carry weapons while on duty. This policy aims to deter and respond to any situation threatening the safety of HCS families or employees.

Our officers undergo extensive firearms and de-escalation training, along with a rigorous evaluation program to meet the requirements for carrying a weapon on campus.

Safety Initiatives & Lockdown Preparedness

While we do not publish every security enhancement and change we make at HCS, our Safe School Committee is actively and continually improving the culture of safety on our campus.

As we practice Run, Hide, Fight through our lockdown drills throughout the year, we encourage parents to engage with their students on the topic of school safety.

HCS also asks for help in maintaining this culture of safety. Following the principle of "See Something, Say Something," if you notice anything concerning in person or online, please reach out to prevent a tragedy and protect someone from hurting themselves or others.

Secure Visitor Access & Entry Policies

All visitors must register and obtain a visitor's badge before accessing the school building, and this badge must be displayed at all times.

Visitors will be required to provide a parent ID or turn in their driver's license while on campus.

Whenever possible, please schedule all visits to the campus ahead of time with the school or the employee you are visiting.

VOLUNTEER & VISITOR REQUIREMENTS

Traffic Safety & Carline Procedures

To keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient, we provide carline instructions based on the grade level of the youngest student in your household. Families are encouraged to watch the correct video before the school year begins and anytime clarification is needed.

Our Highest Priority

The safety of our students, staff, and families is not something we take lightly. We are committed to guarding the physical and emotional security of every person on campus. We remain prayerful, watchful, and ready to respond in any circumstance, and we consider it an honor to protect this community.
