Health Services

Lorem Ipsum Dolor

At Heritage, we believe caring for a child extends beyond the classroom. Our registered nursing team partners with families to support student health, respond to illness or injury, administer medication, and help students return to learning as quickly and safely as possible. When a student has a need, big or small, we want them to feel comforted, cared for, and confident that someone is ready to help.

Student Illness & Daily Care

Our nurses are available throughout the school day to care for students who feel unwell, experience an injury, or need medical attention. Each student is assessed individually so we can provide comfort, determine next steps, and help them return to class if they are able.

If a student becomes too ill to remain at school, the nurse will contact parents for pick-up so the child can rest and prevent exposure to others. Students may return once symptoms have improved and they have been fever-free and vomiting/diarrhea-free for 24 hours without medication.

Additional Services

Medication Administration: Prescription and over-the-counter medications may be given at school when dropped off by a parent with proper labeling and permission forms. Limited OTC options may be dispensed with parent consent.

Emergency Medications: Students in grades 5-12 may carry approved EpiPens, inhalers, or diabetic supplies with physician documentation on file.

Chronic Condition Support: Care plans are available for students with asthma, allergies, diabetes, seizure disorders, and other ongoing medical needs, developed in partnership with families and physicians.

Vision & Hearing Screenings: Routine screenings take place annually at designated grade levels, with follow-up communication only if needed.

Immunization Requirements: Students must meet Indiana immunization guidelines, with annual medical or religious exemptions accepted when applicable.

We’re Here to Help

If your student has health needs, questions, or a new diagnosis, our nursing team welcomes communication, early and often. We consider it a privilege to care for our students each day.
