Our Traditions

At Heritage Christian School, our traditions create a sense of belonging that spans generations. These cherished moments bring students, families, faculty, and alumni together, strengthening our community and celebrating God’s work in the lives of our students. From joyful gatherings to meaningful milestones, these traditions help make the Heritage experience unforgettable.

Back-to-School Bash

Each year before school starts, our community gathers on the football field for the annual Back-to-School Bash. This festive, can't-miss tradition kicks off the new school year with energy and excitement. Families enjoy food trucks, yard games, giveaways, and live music. High school students compete in a dodgeball tournament, while younger students run and play with friends, reconnecting after summer break. We also ask families to bring items to donate to a local charity as a way to kick off the year by being a blessing to others. It’s a joyful night full of laughter, community, and school spirit, setting the tone for the year ahead.

PTF Fun Run

The annual Fun Run is our Parent-Teacher Fellowship's only fundraiser and is held each year in the spring. Students in prep-k through 8th grade participate in a fun, outdoor race with music and games on our stadium field. Grades 5-8 also get to enjoy a color powder run!

Senior Parade

The annual senior parade is a Heritage favorite! This fun and entertaining event brings together the entire school. All of our students, faculty, staff and many parents gather together to watch as the senior class says their final goodbyes to student life at HCS. These soon-to-be-graduates decorate their cars, dress in costumes, parade around the campus, and enjoy some of their last moments together as high school students.

Senior Walk

Our seniors celebrate their last official day of school with our newest tradition: the Senior Walk. Starting in the high school commons, they don their caps, gowns, and tassels, ready to embark on a memorable journey. They then walk through the elementary, intermediate, middle, and high schools, greeted by cheers and applause from students, faculty, staff, and their parents. This meaningful event not only honors our seniors but also inspires our younger students, showing them the importance of graduation. It is a touching moment for seniors to thank their teachers and reflect on their incredible journeys at HCS.

5th Grade Basketball Tournament

This enthusiastic event is a Heritage favorite in Intermediate School. Each class comes up with a team name and both boys and girls teams play in a 3-day tournament to kickoff their Eagle Spirit during March Madness.

Homecoming Week & Lip Sync

Homecoming Week is probably the favorite fall semester tradition among the student body at Heritage. Here are just a few things that happen:

  • Themed dress up days
  • Lip sync competition with choreographed dances by each class
  • Decorating hallways and chalk murals
  • Over 20 competitions (like volleyball, soccer, kickball, ultimate frisbee, and tug-of-war, powder puff football) with a final full-day battle on Friday for the ultimate win and trophy

At the end of the week, the entire Heritage community, along with many of our alumni, come together for the homecoming tailgate and football game. This annual event features its own entertainment including:

  • A faculty/staff dunk tank
  • Presentation of the homecoming court
  • Food trucks
  • PTF Fun Zone with inflatables, face painting, and a lot more!
  • Live music
  • Alumni soccer game

Christmas Chapel

One of Heritage’s most cherished traditions, grades 1-12 unite in joyful Christmas worship. It ends with each class singing the “12 Days of Christmas,” while the senior class adds laughter with skits highlighting their favorite school memories. This tradition rings in the Advent season with a memorable and heartwarming celebration.
