Middle School
Grades 7-8
Middle School at Heritage Christian School supports students during a season of rapid growth, increasing responsibility, and deeper thinking. Our program, designed specifically for students in grades 7 and 8, challenges students to think critically, engage deeply with their learning, and take greater ownership of their academic and spiritual growth, all while being guided and supported by our teachers who know them well.
Whether students have been part of the Heritage community for years or are joining for the first time, they are welcomed into a Christ-centered environment where academic rigor, discipleship, and strong relationships work together to shape confident, capable learners.

Academics & Curriculum Overview

Students follow an eight-period daily schedule with subject-specific teachers, allowing for deep engagement in each discipline while learning to manage increased expectations, transitions, and responsibilities.

STEM in Middle School
In middle school, our students are introduced to STEM concepts that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while learning how these disciplines connect to real-world applications.
Middle school STEM opportunities include courses such as Computer Science Essentials and Intro to Engineering Technologies, where students are introduced to foundational concepts in programming, engineering design, and technological problem-solving.
The Media & Innovation Center (MIC) serves as the hub for STEM learning and is the home base for engineering, computer science, and our championship robotics program. Equipped with specialized tools, technology, and collaborative workspace, the MIC supports applied learning through design, experimentation, and problem-solving.

Educational Support Services
Heritage recognizes that students learn in different ways and at different paces. Our Educational Support Services (ESS) team partners with teachers and families to support students who may benefit from additional academic guidance.
At the middle school level, ESS support may focus on areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, organization, and study skills. The ESS team works collaboratively with classroom teachers to reinforce instruction, build confidence, and help students develop strategies that support independence and long-term academic growth.

Discipleship in Middle School
Discipleship in middle school is focused on helping students deepen their understanding of biblical truth and continue growing in spiritual maturity. Teachers and staff intentionally integrate a biblical worldview throughout instruction, classroom discussions, and daily interactions, encouraging students to think biblically and apply Scripture to real-life situations.
Students participate in a weekly chapel, gathering for corporate worship and biblical teaching led by faculty, staff, and guest speakers. Through chapel, classroom learning, and faith-informed relationships, students are encouraged to grow in integrity, wisdom, and Christlike character as they navigate this important stage of development.

Fine Arts in Middle School
Fine arts are an important part of the middle school experience at Heritage, offering students opportunities to grow creatively while developing skill, discipline, and confidence through music and visual arts instruction. Middle school students engage with fine arts as part of the academic program.
Middle school fine arts offerings include:

- Strings
- Band including Chapel Band and Jazz Band

Middle School Athletics
Middle school students have opportunities to participate in competitive athletics that emphasize teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in a Christ-centered environment. Students may compete on school athletic teams that practice regularly and participate in interscholastic competition, offering a structured athletic experience as they grow in skill and responsibility.
Athletics at Heritage are designed to support physical development while reinforcing character, perseverance, and respect for others.

Clubs & Organizations
Middle school students are encouraged to explore interests, connect with peers, and engage in learning beyond the classroom through a variety of clubs and organizations. These opportunities support enrichment, creativity, service, and community involvement.
Students may participate in offerings such as Robotics, Mock Trial, and other clubs focused on academic enrichment, faith, service, and recreation. Leadership opportunities, including Student Council, allow students to represent their peers and contribute positively to school life while learning responsibility, collaboration, and leadership through involvement.

Parent Community & Involvement
Strong partnerships between families and the school remain important throughout the middle school years. Parents are encouraged to stay connected through ongoing communication, school events, and shared experiences within the Heritage community.
The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) plays a key role in supporting teachers, building community, and hosting events that bring families together. Middle school parents are invited to engage in ways that fit their season of life while supporting the broader school community.
