Best Buddies at Heritage Christian School

Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In 2017, Heritage Christian School became an official Best Buddies chapter thanks to a dedicated and passionate student.

What We Do

The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.

Best Buddies builds one-to-one friendships between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), through school and community friendship programs that provide socialization opportunities to help erase the invisible line that often separates students or adults with and without IDD.

Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

GiGi's Playhouse

The Heritage chapter of Best Buddies partners with GiGi's Playhouse. Every day, GiGi's Playhouse provides free, life-changing therapeutic, educational and career training programs for 30,000+ individuals of all ages. Through these free programs and through their Generation G Campaign for global acceptance, they empower families by maximizing opportunities for daily achievement and lasting acceptance.
