Under the Sea

Activities for Kindergarten - 1st Grade:

These campers will be guided with assistance through underwater engineering experiments that go along with the Pepper Mint story that the instructor reads to the group. Campers will work in small groups with a camp counselor to discover how hydraulic machines work, experiment with bubbles and water, as well as design and create a machine to retrieve items in water.

During worship time, campers will be welcomed aboard the Steadfast, a deep-sea rescue submarine. Join Captain Sandbar and his loyal first mate, Major Reefrash, as they journey to the deepest parts of the ocean. Their mission: to rescue a stranded garbage submarine, the Scumscrubber. Join the mission and see how God wants us to live by studying passages from the book of James.

Crafts: Sticky Sand Art, Making Slime, and Bottle Sand Art

Outdoor Activities: Fun, high energy outdoor games including water games. Please send a swim suit each day with your camper.

The cost of the camp includes a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo, a camp t-shirt, and popsicles.

Lunch and snacks are not provided. Please send in a lunch and snacks with your camper each day.

Activities for 2nd - 5th Grade:

Build, experiment, learn, and play during Under the Sea Day Camp. Campers will read the story of Pepper Mint – a curious, skillful, and creative young engineer – and experiment alongside her. They will work in groups during this story-based STEM week as Pepper Mint arrives in the Bermuda Triangle. There, Pepper Mint and the campers discover that the ocean water behaves in strange and unexpected ways. When the ship's system fails, Pepper Mint and the campers figure out how to use water to make hydraulic machines. They conduct hands on experiments, build a ship, and learn lessons in science and engineering.
