Abi Kasey
2nd Grade Teacher

Abi Kasey, a 2nd grade teacher at HCS, always knew she wanted to be an educator. “I LOVE Christian education,” she shares, reflecting on her own experience growing up in a Christian school. After teaching for five years in Southeastern Kentucky’s public school system, Abi’s journey to Heritage was unmistakably God-led.
A chance conversation her husband had with a stranger in Washington, DC, became the undeniable confirmation Abi needed to join the HCS community. While Abi was praying for clarity about whether to transition into Christian education, her husband met a man in a waiting room who happened to have ties to Indianapolis. Knowing she was seeking God’s direction, her husband asked the man about Heritage Christian School. The man responded, “Heritage is a big Christian school, but it’s a real Christian school. It’s not just in the name.” Abi recalls, “We have no idea the man’s name, who he was, or his connection to Heritage, but that message from God could not have been clearer!” This divinely orchestrated encounter gave Abi the assurance she needed to follow God’s calling to Heritage, a decision she continues to treasure.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University, Abi brings both passion and excellence to her classroom. “In my classroom at HCS, I strive to teach and prepare students to glorify God with their whole lives by building a Biblical worldview and providing a high-quality, competitive education,” she explains. She creates a safe and joyful space where students can discover their talents, embrace mistakes, and develop a love for learning. “Learning is and should be fun!”
Abi treasures the integration of faith in every subject she teaches. “God created math, science, literature, friendships, routines, and on and on. When you remember that, you can see Him everywhere, and your students learn to see Him everywhere as well!”
Abi’s favorite part of working at Heritage is the sense of community. She feels blessed by the support of parents and the camaraderie of her fellow teachers, who have become some of her closest friends. Her most rewarding experiences come from watching her students grow—not only in academics but also in their understanding and application of Biblical principles. “It’s all intertwined!” she says.
Outside the classroom, Abi enjoys spending time with her husband, Kody, and their goldendoodle, Wally. You can often find her cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats or curled up with a good book. Abi’s faith, passion, and dedication make her an invaluable part of the Heritage Christian School family.
