Kayla Booher - 4th Grade Teacher

Kayla Booher

4th Grade Teacher

Kayla Booher serves as a fourth grade teacher at Heritage, carrying a passion for teaching that began in childhood. “I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was nine years old,” she shares. While she once believed her calling might lead her into public education, God clearly redirected her steps during her job search. Through prayer, Heritage was placed firmly on her heart, and she now sees that path as part of something much bigger. “I guess you could say God did immeasurably more than I could ask or imagine by blessing me with Heritage.”

In the classroom, Kayla is deeply intentional about relationships. She strives to truly know each of her students, believing that trust and connection create space for meaningful growth. That intentional time often leads to conversations that go well beyond academics. She is especially passionate about helping students feel comfortable bringing their faith questions into the open. “I don’t want them to feel alone or embarrassed for having big questions about God or not knowing everything in the Bible. After all, we are all lifelong learners of God and His Word.”

One of her most rewarding moments this year came through unplanned time spent after school with a group of middle school girls. What began as casual conversation turned into a deep discussion about faith, where Kayla was able to share her testimony and reflect on how God has worked in her life. “It was incredibly cool to see how God was working through that conversation and so encouraging to see these young girls so interested in knowing Him more.”

Outside the classroom, Kayla grew up on her family’s eighth-generation farm, raising corn and soybeans alongside her parents and brothers. A proud Purdue graduate, she and her family are enthusiastic Boilermaker fans, especially when it comes to basketball games at Mackey Arena.

We are grateful for Kayla’s heart for students, her love of learning, and the way she lives out her faith through everyday moments and meaningful conversations.
