Caleb Schnake - High School Math Teacher & Head Boys Soccer Coach

Caleb Schnake

High School Math Teacher & Head Boys Soccer Coach

Meet Caleb Schnake, a long-standing member of the Heritage Christian School community. Caleb teaches Honors Geometry, Dual Credit Precalculus, AP Calculus AB and BC, and Intro to Logic and Philosophy. He’s also the head coach of our boys soccer team and a proud Heritage parent.

Caleb’s path to Heritage was anything but straightforward. “With a multitude of options already available after graduating from college,” he shares, “I hesitantly honored my dad’s suggestion to apply to this random Christian school in Indianapolis, certain that it wouldn’t amount to anything.” After what he describes as a “trainwreck of an interview,” Caleb accepted the role—a decision he now sees as a divinely orchestrated twist that has led him into 20+ years of teaching at Heritage.

In his classroom and on the soccer pitch, Caleb seeks to “prayerfully walk alongside students as God uses their life experiences and His Word to transform their view of themselves, Himself, and the people around them.” This mission reflects his deep belief that, ”in a world that feels increasingly polarized, it's crucial that we learn to interact with others in a posture of grace with a proportionately humble grasp of truth; in other words, like Jesus.”

For Caleb, faith isn’t simply part of his teaching—it’s the very heart of it. “It’s not so much that my faith is incorporated into my classroom, but that my classroom is an overflow of my faith,” he explains. Caleb believes that life’s complexities demand that each moment in the classroom be “God-inspired and God-empowered,” a mindset he seeks to embody and model for his students.

Caleb cherishes the relationships he’s formed with students, families, and colleagues. He’s especially grateful for the continued connection with HCS alumni, whether officiating weddings, attending alumni soccer matches, or sharing meaningful conversations over lunch. “Every moment with an HCS alumnus has been a treasure,” he reflects. He’s also deeply moved by the impact Heritage teachers have had on his own children, saying, “They have been loved, mentored, and discipled in ways I didn’t know was possible.”

Outside of Heritage, Caleb enjoys time with his wife and three children. Together, they love exploring the outdoors, creating memories on the Atlantic coast, across the Midwest, and in the breathtaking landscapes of national parks out west.
