High School English Teacher

Erin Diaz

Erin Diaz is a passionate educator at Heritage Christian School, where she teaches AP Literature and AP Language. With a BA in English from Indiana University, a minor in Spanish and Latin American Studies, and a Master of Divinity from Cincinnati Christian University, Erin brings a wealth of knowledge and spiritual insight into her classroom.

Her journey into education began as a way to support a ministry in South Florida, where she and her family were planting a church. However, it was during their time in Little Rock, Arkansas, where Erin first encountered Christian education, that she discovered a deep love for teaching. After many years in ministry across different cities, Erin and her family returned to Indianapolis and are thrilled to be part of the Heritage community.

In her classroom, Erin encourages her students to stay curious, explore big questions, and engage in authentic discussions. She is passionate about guiding students to "collectively arrive at true and meaningful answers to larger and more complex questions regarding literature, life, and spiritual matters." Her goal is to serve students and their families by providing an excellent education rooted in a biblical worldview.

Erin draws her greatest inspiration from her parents. She admires their courage and love, sharing how they taught her to "love and honor as Christ loves us and to live boldly for him."

When Erin isn’t teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, whether it's playing laser tag, visiting museums, or simply relaxing at home. Erin loves creating meaningful experiences for her kids while they are still young and eager to hang out with her. Some of her favorite activities include playing board games, solving puzzles, watching movies, and exploring new cities.

One unique aspect of Erin's life is her fluency in both English and Spanish. While she didn’t grow up speaking Spanish, she began learning it at a young age, and it has become a second "heart language" for her, one that she shares with her husband and their friends and family in Miami, Venezuela, and Colombia.
