Kendra Kirby
Choir Director for Grades 5-12

Kendra Kirby serves as our 5th-12th grade Choir Director at HCS! She brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep passion for both music and faith. In addition to leading five choirs, Kendra also directs the middle and high school chapel bands and serves as the pit orchestra director and vocal coach for the annual fall musical. "I'm so honored and excited to be here!" she shares enthusiastically.
Kendra's journey to Heritage was one of faith and preparation. With a background in directing choral and show choir ensembles across collegiate, high school, and middle school settings, much of her career was shaped by her work in local churches. She recalls her time at Grace Church in Noblesville and World Gospel Church in Terre Haute as formative, saying, "God clearly affirmed that the most valuable tools in His hands were my love for Him and my training in music. When those two things combine, I feel the greatest sense of joy and peace." This calling led her to pursue a state license in Music Education, with the hope of one day teaching at Heritage. "God has placed this magnetic attraction in my heart toward Heritage for many years," Kendra reflects. After patiently waiting for the right opportunity, Kendra has been blessed to see this chapter at Heritage unfold.
Kendra holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Theory from Indiana State University and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Bowling Green State University. In 2021, she completed her Transition to Teaching Certification, further equipping her to share her love of music with students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Kendra is passionate about integrating her faith with her work, using vocal singing as a means of discipleship. "The Truth we sing sticks in our minds and hearts for years to come and becomes a source of strength and encouragement for enduring life's storms," she explains. She hopes to help students grow in their understanding of scripture through the powerful lyrics they sing together.
Outside of school, Kendra has been married to her "sweet husband" for over 25 years. The couple met in Terre Haute while performing in several musical theatre productions, and they’ve continued to share their love for the arts by directing shows together—an experience that Kendra humorously notes has kept their marriage intact! Kendra also treasures her many spiritual children, who enrich her life in countless ways. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and immersing herself in the world of music and theatre.
