Emmy Maiste

6th Grade Math, Science, & Bible Teacher

For Emmy Maiste, the path to teaching became clear when God provided an opportunity for her to serve as a preschool aide at her local church during her senior year of high school.

“I knew I wanted to work with children, but that experience made God’s plan for me to teach in a school setting clearer,” she shared.

Emmy earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Taylor University, and now serves at Heritage as a sixth grade math, science, and Bible teacher.

Although new to the Heritage faculty, Emmy is already familiar with the school community. She coached middle school cheerleading last year, and her husband, Tim, serves as a high school physical education teacher.

As she begins this new role, Emmy is especially excited to connect with her sixth graders.

“In my classroom at HCS, I strive to create an inviting space for students to learn more about the heart of Jesus and grow in their academic career,” Emmy said.

Emmy is also eager become more deeply involved in the Heritage community. “I am most looking forward to working with the wonderful staff and students who are here at Heritage,” she shared.

Outside the classroom, Emmy has been dancing for 21 years and enjoys teaching dance classes, reading, cooking, taking walks, and playing all kinds of games.
