Melissa Meabon
Educational Support Services Teacher

Melissa Meabon serves as a Educational Support Services teacher for grades K-8 and is a professionally certified Educational Therapist at HCS. With a background in science education, technology integration, and educational therapy, Melissa brings over two decades of experience to her role.
Originally planning to teach science in public schools, Melissa felt called to a different path—one shaped by faith, family, and service. Over the years, she has taught college students, developed curriculum, and led classes in both music and faith formation. Eventually, she found her way to Heritage, where she became trained in NILD therapy and stepped into a full-time role helping students thrive.
“In my classroom at HCS, I strive to allow my students to be loved and known,” Melissa shares. “I also work to help them discover how God designed them to learn best. Every lesson is differentiated to accommodate each student’s specific need.”
Faith is at the core of Melissa’s work. “Every therapy session begins with prayer,” she explains. “I empower even my kindergarteners to pray out loud and share needs in my family as well.”
One of her most rewarding experiences has been watching discouraged students grow in confidence and ability. “Students come to me with sunken shoulders and don’t believe they are capable of keeping up with the rigor and volume at our school. It may take a few years, but with prayer, focus, and teaching them to have a growth mindset, I have seen students come to life with the help of the Holy Spirit.”
Outside the classroom, Melissa and her family love traveling and serving on mission trips. They’ve been to Kenya, Mexico, Guatemala, and even Memphis to help put roofs on houses for widows. She enjoys biking, hiking, exploring National Parks, and scuba diving. “My favorite thing is the ocean,” she says, “and we love snorkeling as a family!”
