Nate Gast - High School Bible Teacher

Nate Gast

High School Bible Teacher

Meet Nate Gast, Bible teacher at Heritage Christian School. With a career spanning teaching, ministry, and leadership, Nate brings a passion for discipleship and a deep love for God’s Word to his classroom.

Nate earned his undergraduate degree in Social Studies Education from Taylor University and a master’s degree from Liberty University. He began his teaching career at Covenant Christian High School, where he taught history, Bible, psychology, and sociology, while also serving as Assistant Principal. After time in vocational ministry overseeing a college ministry and writing discipleship curriculum, Nate returned to education, serving as Director of Strategic Initiatives and Senior Bible Teacher at Greenwood Christian Academy before joining Heritage.

At Heritage, Nate’s mission is to inspire transformation through the Bible. “Rather than simply teaching information, I want to spark a transformation,” he explained. By focusing on discipleship and meeting students where they are spiritually, Nate creates an engaging and meaningful learning experience. His commitment extends beyond the classroom, often mentoring students over coffee to guide them in their faith journeys.

While reflecting on the impact of his work as a teacher and mentor, Nate shared that one of the most rewarding aspects of his career is the lasting relationships he’s built with students. “I’ve officiated 75 weddings, many for former students who’ve stayed connected.”

Heritage is a family affair for the Gast household. Nate’s wife, Kiersten, works in athletics, his daughter Maddie teaches 5th grade, and his daughters Emma and Isabelle are current students. “We are fully connected to Heritage now!” Nate said. Outside of school, Nate enjoys reading, preaching, hiking in the mountains, and spending time with his wife and kids. He also golfs occasionally and considers himself a bit of a coffee snob.
