Laken Rosing

High School English Teacher

From the time she was a teenager, Laken Rosing knew God was calling her to teach. She declared her education major right on her college application and never looked back, eventually earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Secondary Education from the University of Kentucky.

Her journey to Heritage marked a new chapter after years in public education. “It was a prayerful decision based on where the Lord was leading … not just me, but our entire family,” she reflects. That step of faith has since become a source of deep joy. “Teaching at Heritage offers constant engagement with other believers. It’s amazing how encouraging and freeing it really is to be surrounded by an entire campus of people—adults and students alike—who are pursuing Christ.”

In her classroom at Heritage, Laken says she hopes to “teach the beauty and necessity of language and communication, not only to better know and understand reading and writing but also to better know and understand the Lord and how to glorify Him."

Laken has grown to cherish the relationships she builds with her students both inside and outside the classroom. “I love being part of student life—chaperoning events like Junior/Senior Banquet and Senior Retreat, cheering them on at sporting events, showing up for their baptisms—anything they invite me to!”

Her hope is that students walk away remembering both the care she has for them and the lessons they’ve learned. “Personally, I hope they remember how much I love them and how grateful I am that God put them in my life. Academically, I hope they remember the practical role language, reading, and writing have in their lives and even in their spiritual growth.”

One moment that has stayed with her came when a student told her that studying rhetorical analysis in her class had helped them better understand Scripture. “I could have cried—I’m not sure I have ever felt like my teaching was more meaningful than in that moment.”

Whether she’s unpacking the beauty of language, cheering at a ball game, or encouraging students in their faith, Laken brings both passion and heart to everything she does. We’re grateful for the impact she continues to make in the lives of our students.
