Tim Maiste
High School P.E. Teacher

Tim never expected to become a teacher—but in the summer of 2022, everything changed. After earning a business degree from Taylor University and working in the corporate world for a year, Tim found himself wrestling with a deep sense that God was calling him elsewhere.
“I wasn’t really sure what God had for me,” Tim shared. “It was a difficult time of uncertainty, but through prayer and walking it out, I really felt God calling me to teaching.”
That summer, he dropped everything and served as a camp counselor at Kanakuk, a Christian sports camp. “It was the best summer ever,” he said. The experience confirmed his passion for working with youth and helped solidify his decision to pursue teaching—a natural fit given his love for coaching and his family’s background in education.
Now teaching PE, Health, and Strength & Conditioning at Heritage, Tim sees his role as an opportunity to lead by example. “I strive to model Christ. Just as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:1, ‘Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.’ I want to be an example of Christ to my students, so they can do the same.”
Tim's favorite part of working at Heritage is the people. “Ever since I stepped foot on campus, there has been a loving family-like atmosphere. There are so many Christ-like people who make Heritage such a great place.”
Outside of school, Tim enjoys anything related to sports—especially pickup basketball, softball, and football. He also loves spending time with friends, family, and dogs.
