Ben Ziebarth

6th Grade Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher

Ben Ziebarth knows firsthand the impact a teacher can have on a student’s life. Now he hopes to have that same kind of influence on his own students.

Ben’s interest in education began during his junior year of high school. Although he had always enjoyed history, one class changed the direction of his future.

“I wasn't interested in being a teacher until I took my APUSH class my junior year,” Ben shared. “I always liked history, but my teacher made me love history and it made me want to become a teacher.”

That experience eventually led Ben to Indiana Wesleyan University, where he earned a degree in Social Studies Education. Today, he brings his love of history, education, and working with students into his classroom at Heritage, while also pursuing another longtime passion through coaching sports.

For Ben, teaching at a Christian school offers the opportunity to invest in more than academics.

“In my classroom at HCS, I strive to push my students to be their best and grow in their relationships with Christ,” he said.

An important part of that is being willing to share his own faith journey with students.

“I love telling my personal testimony and showing students how God can work and the many miracles that can be done through Christ,” Ben explained. “I think it is a great way to reach students because they want to hear real examples from their mentors.”

As he begins his time at Heritage, Ben is especially excited about building relationships across the school, both in the classroom and through athletics.

“I am looking forward to making a difference in the classroom and also on the football field this year,” he said. “I can't wait to build relationships with students all over the campus and to make an impact.”

Ben even had a connection to Heritage before joining the faculty. His quarterback during his senior year of college was an HCS graduate who spoke highly of his experience at the school.

Outside of Heritage, Ben enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible. Golfing, hiking, camping, hammocking, pickleball, Spikeball, and coaching sports are among his favorite activities, and he enjoys watching all kinds of sports in his downtime. He also loves going to the movies.

We are grateful to have Ben as part of the Heritage faculty and for the enthusiasm, faith, and commitment to relationships he brings to our students both in the classroom and beyond.
